We are delighted to announce that Edinburgh Ladies FC will become part of Spartans FC from the next season. They play in the SWPL and are currently 3rd, having finished 3rd last season.

Edinburgh Ladies currently play at St Mark's Park - they will play their home fixtures at the new Academy - either on the synthetic pitch or in the stadium.

This is a big step forward for the club, in particular it should be a real fillip for our girls section. Members of the ladies team are committed to helping with coaching and development of the girls.

Subject: Edinburgh Ladies FC to join Spartans FC with effect from season 08/09

Spartans FC are delighted to announce that with effect from playing season 08/09, Scottish Women’s Premier League Team, Edinburgh Ladies Football Club, will join Spartans FC and become part of the Spartans family.

Craig Graham, Spartans FC Club Captain said “We are excited about Edinburgh Ladies joining our Club and look forward to working together with them to help develop girls and women’s football in Edinburgh”.

Edinburgh Ladies FC, who currently sit 3rd in the Scottish Women’s Premier League at the halfway stage, currently play their home games at St Marks Park. Carson Ralton, Edinburgh Ladies FC Head Coach, said “We are delighted to be joining Spartans. It will enable us to develop on and off the park and we look forward to providing an even more serious challenge to the more established teams in our league”.

Becoming part of the Spartans will mean a name change with effect from next season. In addition, all home games will be played at the soon to built Spartans Community Football Academy. The new Academy, a £3.3M development, will be ready for the start of next season.

In addition to welcoming Edinburgh Ladies FC on board, Spartans are fully committed to increasing current membership levels of its embryonic Girls Youth Section, with players from Edinburgh Ladies FC lined-up and eager to help out.
